Must-See Restaurants In Cape Town, South Africa

Cape Town is home to some amazing restaurants and is well-known for its gastronomy. Throughout my time in South Africa, I had the opportunity to experience a wide-range of delectable dishes at some extraordinary restaurants. If you find yourself in Cape Town, here are four restaurants that you need to check out.

1) Bombay Bicycle Club

Mack Prioleau

Bombay Bicycle Club is an excellent place to begin your night. If you are looking for a fun place to go before a night on the town, then this restaurant is the answer. The atmosphere is great and food is just as enjoyable. The menu is a collection of all-time favorites, complemented by an ever-changing collection of specials which embrace the local borough traders. My favorite dishat the Bombay Bicycle Club was the “Surf & Turf,” which included a full rack of ribs and six shrimp for R150 (about $12).

2) The Hussar Grill

Mack Prioleau

If you are looking for a steakhouse for a nice occasion, then it is tough to beat The Hussar Grill. This restaurant is very similar to an American steakhouse. The Hussar Grill Camps Bay is situated on one of Cape Town’s most beautiful and glamorous locations, with views that only Camps Bay can offer. This restaurant was voted the Best Restaurant in Camps Bay by TripAdvisor in 2014. They serve everything from steak to lamb to fish; the ingredients in preparation are both top quality. I would recommend the fillet or lamb with a calamari or mussel pot starter.

3) Honey Bun

Mack Prioleau

Honey Bun is a funky old-styled establishment, which serves great food, fresh coffee, gourmet sandwiches and delicious delicacies the “old school way.” It is a small café-style restaurant tucked away in Observatory. The Honey Bun was our go-to brunch spot. This restaurant has a very homey feel, as it only holds about 20 people. Along with their great smoothies I would recommend the Full English Breakfast or the B.B.C. Wrap (short for bacon, brie and chicken).

4) Sushi Box

Cape Town - Mack Prioleau

Sushi in Cape Town is amazing, in large part because of all the freshly caught fish off the coast. While there are many great sushi spots, the best is undoubtedly Sushi Box. Not only do they have great sushi, but they are also very convenient. Sushi box has excellent, expedient service and they offer carry-out as well. If you dine-in, I recommend enjoy the great wooden deck
